| Current OMHI Appeals In addition to appealing for help with everyday necessities: I. School Fees for OMHI Orphans and other Children OMHI obligation for required SCHOOL fees for one term for the 25 orphans = $2,500. school fees for other 34 needy children = $3,400 Theoretically, Uganda is supposed to be moving toward more government support for schools, but according to internet sources, this is not reality. (For example, "In northeastern Uganda, the status of school fees for children in small villages is a significant concern. The World Bank reported that 54% of adults in sub-Saharan Africa rank paying school fees higher than medical bills and other expenses. In Uganda, unpredictable tuition hikes are a major source of financial worry for many parents.") There are many fees required, plus many required materials and supplies that must be provided by parents and sponsors for a child to attend a school. II. Buy Agricultural Land for Food, Business, and Training From Pastor Joshua: The committee suggested to ask for the support of donation for the purchase of Land (5 acres) which would help for agriculture using the new farming techniques learnt from farming God's ways trainings where we would be training families on how to farm for their families. That would help produce food and money for both the children and the community and also it was suggested that a feature part of the land would be used to build up a skill learning school that would help teach people within the community learn skills that one would use to earn a living for the better of OMHI. An acre costs $3000 and for 5 acres that would be $15000. In the meeting, we discussed that if the land is available and we start agriculture and a skill learning school, both would help generate food for the children and other needy families and also it would generate money for school fees for the children. |

Water Borehole Appeal - and Borehole Repaired! From Pastor Joshua earlier: The biggest challenge we have as a community is a source of clean water. We don't have a functioning borehole near and we get water for home consumption from at least a nearby swamp, although not so near, that the community dug and sometimes it gets even dry during dry season making life more harder for the people in OMHI. Sometime there was a borehole which was a bit near but ever since it got spoiled about 5 years ago we failed to repair it since it costs a lot of money to repair.
Omecha Borehole Repair Day With money from a donation, Pastor Joshua and OMHI had the district engineers and technicians evaluate the status of the old borehole in October 2025. (See the photos and images here.) Their conclusion was that a new borehole costing about $10,000 was NOT necessary - and that the current borehole could be repaired for $5,000. Of course, this astronomical amount of money was not available to OMHI without your help! Thank you greatly to the donors for your help to make this Water Borehole Appeal a success! ![]() Earlier Status Report. OMHI is delighted to report that the needed $5,000 was donated to repair the water borehole, and the actual repair project has now been completed! See November 12, 2025 UPDATE. |

The orphanage associated with Omecha Church is both an integral part of Omecha Church and an integral part of Omecha Ministry Hope Initiative. The orphanage is sponsored by and controlled by Omecha Church through the constitution of the OMHI organization. "The church is the mother of the orphanage." In particular, the church budgets money for the orphanage, and the church committee that manages the church is the same one that manages the orphanage.

In addition to helping the orphans, OMHI also helps others in the community who need help. Pastor Joshua writes: "We are taking care of 25 orphans and 34 other needy children within the community and the elderly together with the needy families in the community. Providing them with school fees, food, medication and other basic needs that everyone needs on daily basis to have a living." For example, see part of Norah's story on a separate page.
